The consequences of the attractive, short-range nucleon–nucleon (NN) interaction on wave functions Elliott SU(3) and proxy-SU(3) symmetry are discussed. NN favors most symmetric spatial irreducible representation, which corresponds to maximal overlap among fermions. percentage components out total in an function is introduced, through it found, that no irrep more than highest weight for a certain number valence particles three dimensional, isotropic, harmonic oscillator shell. consideration irreps nuclei alkali metal clusters, leads prediction prolate oblate shape transition beyond mid-shell region
